“I would like to thank Unai” – Edison Cavani reacts to rumors linking him to Chelsea

Chelsea target Edison Cavani has responded to claims he is on his way to Chelsea to replace Alvaro Morata next summer.

The 31-year old has been very impressive at the French Ligue 1 side since he signed for them in the summer of 2013. He has scored a whopping 27 goals in the Ligue 1 alone this season, while breaking Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s record for all-time scorer at the Parc de Princes.

Fresh after scoring the goal that won PSG the French Cup on Tuesday via the penalty spot, Cavani responded to the rumors linking him with Chelsea next summer.

The former Napoli forward was adamant he is remaining in France, while denying reports of a feud with Neymar after the Brazil superstar arrived at PSG in a staggering £200m deal from Barcelona last summer.

“My future is here, of course. I think that it has been a good season and intense. We must enjoy moments like these. I am pleased for the supporters and to be here.

Four consecutive Coupe de France wins represents a lot of history for PSG. We are here to win and win titles for the club. I would like to thank Unai. I know that he gave everything for PSG each day.”

Morata, the striker Cavani denies replacing, is reportedly on his way out of Stamford Bridge after setting his sights on a return to Juventus following his less than impressive display this season.

His 11 goals in the Premier League this season, do not match the ambitions of Chelsea who may have requested a minimum of 20 goals from the former Real Madrid hit man.

He has been leapfrogged in the squad recently by winter signing Olivier Giroud who has scored four goals in his last five games, although it was Morata who was trusted to start Chelsea’s must-win game against Huddersfield on Wednesday, a game they drew after several chances went begging in the first half.
