Chelsea may spend big in this transfer window and a chunk of the money might be spent on one player if rumors emerging from Italy are considered true.
Corrierre dello Sport have reported via Metro that the Blues are set to trigger Mauro Icardi’s release clause to land him in England in the coming transfer window.
Icardi is Inter Milan captain and has attracted a host of top clubs coming after him due to his goal scoring record in the Italian Serie A. His numbers are prolific to say the least having scored 110 goals in 190 games in the Serie A. Despite interest from Juventus and AC Milan in the Argentina international, Inter are expected to do business with a foreign club instead of selling to local rivals.
Sarri is fully aware of this and has told Chelsea’s board, Icardi is on his wishlist, as he plans a squad overhaul at Chelsea if he is signed.
But with the deal hinging on Sarri’s arrival at Stamford Bridge, it could fail to materialize as Chelsea are refusing to pay the £7m release clause in Sarri’s contract and are reportedly considering Laurent Blanc to fill step in as manager in the summer.
