Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has revealed Alvaro Morata will likely return for Chelsea’s Premier League encounter with Huddersfield on Wednesday after missing the match day squad to face Liverpool last Sunday.
The Spanish striker has been one of the most talked about players in the Blues squad this season, following his capture last summer. He moved through the uncertainty tag in the summer of 2017, before drawing more talk when he proved his critics wrong in the early stages of the season.
However, after a dry spell, Morata was questioned again, as fans and pundits believed he was not ready for a top club as a main striker. Now, after recovering from a worrying back injury, Morata picked up another injury in training and was missing from his side’s win over the Reds at Stamford Bridge.
But Conte, while confirming his forward was out of the game due to injury, also revealed he has been lined up to return to action on Wednesday.
“It’s not serious. In my mind, there is the intention for him to be in contention for the game against Huddersfield. I hope.
The injury is not serious. I hope to recover him, also because, on the bench, we had no strikers.”
