Chelsea are going to go deep into another manager search in the coming summer transfer window, with Antonio Conte set to leave the club, but Brendan Rodgers will not be part of any list drawn up due to two main reasons revealed by a report in the Daily Mail.
The Mail reports the Blues top hierarchy are not impressed with how Rodgers has handled Charly Musonda after the youngster completed an 18-month loan deal to the join the Scottish giants Celtic.
The 21-year old has been one of the most promising starlets from Chelsea youth system for a few years now, along with Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Tammy Abraham who have also been sent out on loan to Crystal Palace and Swansea City respectively.
Having pushed for a more minutes under his belt under Antonio Conte, Musonda’s wishes granted him a move to join Rodgers at Celtic in the Scottish league but has started only two games since the January move. That has not gone down well with major top officials at his parent club and are willing to pull the plug on any move to bring in Rodgers to replace Conte after this season.
Another reason why Chelsea will not attempt to bring in Rodgers, is according to the Mail, his comments in times past while he managed Liverpool. They would rather focus on Napoli head coach Maurizio Sarri and Juventus boss Massimiliano Allgeri as reported by the Times.
The former Swansea City coach said in 2012 that ‘trying to build a career and not destroy it’, when asked if he will return to Chelsea as manager.
