Chelsea lost out on a top world class forward when they sold Mohamed Salah to AS Roma following his miserable time in London, and that’s an open secret.
The forward seems to be determined to prove us wrong since arriving back in England. He has been scoring goals for fun, catapulting Liverpool to third in the league table while leading them to the Champions League final, both objectives for Chelsea would love to achieve.
Salah has scored 43 goals this season in all competitions, leaving Chelsea highest scorers in the dust as he battles with the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo for European golden boot this season.
His time at Chelsea was a different story while he played under Jose Mourinho. The Egypt star was a fringe player, incapable of usurping Eden Hazard and Willian on the wings.
Salah now praises Jurgen Klopp for believing in him while aiming a dig at Mourinho for his failure to shine at Stamford Bridge:
“I didn’t have my chance here, so I must leave. In my mind, I don’t want to be someone sitting on the bench, and waiting to be number four or five or play two minutes and still in the big club. It doesn’t work. I went to Fiorentina, and then after I went to Rome, I had two season and a half there in both clubs. And when I had a chance to come back, I said ‘yeah, it’s time to come back to England’.
