“He has become a match-winner” – Belgium assistant coach compares Eden Hazard to Lionel Messi

Chelsea forward Eden Hazard has been compared to world football legend Lionel Messi by his national team’s assistant coach Graeme Jones.

The Belgium international’s recent performances have earned his country wins at the World Cup while also finishing the campaign with Chelsea with a match winning performance against Manchester United in the final of the FA Cup at Wembley. He earned and converted the penalty that won the game against the Red Devils.

In Belgium’s second game against Panama, Hazard grabbed two goal, the first of which he earned and scored from the penalty spot. The second, he took a deft touch round the goalkeeper and slotted the ball at the back of the net coolly.

He has three assists to his name at the World Cup as well and keeps being the main play maker in the side that also boasts of talent like Kevin De Bruyne. Jones believes hazard has improved and is at the stage where he will light up every game he plays in.

“If you look at the FA Cup Final between Chelsea and Manchester United, Eden won the trophy on his own for Chelsea that day. They won 1-0, Eden won the penalty and then scored it.

He is at that stage in his career where he has become a match-winner. There aren’t many in international football. Messi is also one of them. Eden is at his peak. He is fit, mentally strong, he has experience and is comfortable with his game.”
