Chelsea are looking to secure midfielders this summer to beef up the materials they already have in there but at the World Cup, one of the managers has shown the club, they could have a great option right within the squad.
The Blues are considering signing at least one midfielder to support the efforts of N’Golo Kante. Antonio Conte saw his side sign Tiemoue Bakayoko last summer after Nemanja Matic signed for Manchester United. Danny Drinkwater and Ross Barkley arrive as well to give the Italian tactician more options, but none of the new arrivals were able to light up the Premier League.
If Andreas Christensen’s performance for Denmark against France can continue in the English top flight, Chelsea have their man. But that will mean sacrificing his role in defense.
His passing and tackling abilities made him a solid midfielder sitting just in fornt of the defense against teammate Kante and Paul Pogba. Christensen observes a fine display of his own.
“We had one training session, so it was pure instinct. Sometimes it is enough and it worked this time. A couple of days before the game, I was told that they were thinking about it and that I had an idea that it could happen.
And on Monday we got the agreements in place for what I should do, and I think it worked well. My job was defensively oriented. I should give the defenders an extra block in front, and that was what I concentrated on. It was my job to make sure others were covered so they could get forward.”
