Chelsea considering Indian Super League manager as emergency cover in deep managerial confusion

Chelsea are officially ceasing to understand what it means to be a top club in the Premier League as it stands, and news that the club are willing to go for an former manager currently in the far east confirms the point above.

The club are set to sack Antonio Conte and seek a new direction for the club and the likes of Luis Enrique, Maurizio Sarri and more lately Laurent Blanc have been linked.

Sarri is said to be under contract at Napoli and the Italian giants are unwilling to let him go for free despite hiring former Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint Germain boss Carlo Ancelotti. Chelsea would be required to pay £7 million to Napoli as Sarri release clause but the Blues chiefs are unwilling to do that. In effect, they are exploring other options to get the club moving forward in the off season.

And now the Daily Mail say the Blues are now considering Avram Grant – currently managing NorthEast United in the Indian Super League – as an emergency option for manager if Laurent Blanc’s move falls through.

Grant guided Chelsea to their first Champions League final in 2008, but that season was defined as a disaster considering Chelsea lost out on the Premier League title to Manchester United on final day while losing the League Cup final to Tottenham Hostpur.
