Chelsea have lost out on a very important asset this off season, following the departure of academy coach Jody Morris who has led his youth sides to victory in several competitions.
Jody Morris now joins former Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard at Derby County as Lampard’s assistant manager at the Championship club.
Lampard was recently hired as the manager of Derby following the resignation of Gary Rowet who left the Derby Park to join relegated Stoke City. Morris joins him on his three-year contract at the club and are tasked to guide Derby back to the Premier League next season.
Morris won several titles as academy coach at Chelsea. He won the FA Youth Cup and Under-18 Premier League in his first two year as substantive head coach of the U-18s, and secured a treble of titles in the 2017/18 season including the inaugural Premier League Under-18 Cup.
His departure will create a vacuum at Chelsea but will inspire some confidence in Lampard’s beginning as manager and hopefully both might return to coach Chelsea in some years to come.
