Chelsea have reportedly received an offer for Willian from Barcelona but have immediately rejected the bid as they seek to improve their squad ahead of next season.
The Daily Mail reports that Barcelona are willing to spend on the 29-year old this summer, as they want to sign a player capable of opening up defenses like Andres Iniesta did in his time there. Willian will be expected to partner Phillipe Coutinho in attack, to operate behind Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.
The shock exit from the Champions League last season, has sent shock waves within the top hierarchy of Barcelona and are now desperate to sign players to help their course next season.
The report by the Mail also says Willian’s representatives are in Barcelona due to the lure of the La Liga side but Chelsea are resilient in their stance of not willing to sell the Brazil star.
The Blues have now turned down an offer of £50 million from Barcelona although more bids are expected from Barcelona and Manchester United, who are also keen on signing him.
