Conte sent off against Swansea

Top job in Spain is only reason Chelsea have not announced Antonio Conte sack yet

Chelsea are unwilling to announce Antonio Conte’s sack this summer at least until the manager lands a new job elsewhere, with Real Madrid’s hot seat the most likely according to the Telegraph.

Conte is one of the closest linked managers to Real Madrid this summer. The possibility of landing the job in Spain would be great news for the Chelsea top brass who are looking to avoid the compensation payment.

The Daily Mail says Chelsea have to cough up to £9m for Antonio Conte should he be sacked this summer and another manager is hired. The Blues went close to Luis Enrique and Maurizio Sarri before going into advanced talks with Luarent Blanc in the last few days but are still yet to announce their next manager due to Conte still being in charge.

Should the Italian land a new job, Chelsea’s work with be cut out. They will freely escort Conte out of Cobham Training Complex and hire a his replacement. But there is a shortage of high profile jobs for Conte to walk into except at Real Madrid, as the Telegraph report says.

Back in his home country, Napoli have hired Carlo Ancelotti, Roberto Mancini is in charge of the national team. He was one of the leading contenders for the Paris Saint Germain job but they signed former Borussia Dortmund manager, Thomas Tuchel, instead. Bayern Munich hired Niko Kovac from Eintracht Frankfurt while Real have distanced themselves from Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino. Conte could be their man.

If that happens, Chelsea would spend £9m less this summer and focus on helping the next manager build a solid squad for next season.
