Chelsea are already considering selling Olivier Giroud and have begun negotiations with French Ligue 1 giants Marseille, despite signing the striker only six months ago.
Giroud moved to Stamford Bridge in January, having been part of the transfer merry-go-round that involved Arsenal signing Pierre Emerick Aubameyang from Borussia Dortmund, Dortmund also signing Chelsea star Michy Batshuayi and Giroud then filling the space in Antonio Conte’s squad.
Giroud was not at his usual prolific best, having scored only three times for Chelsea in the Premier League in 13 appearances.
Via the Mirror, French reports have it that Giroud is the subject of a deal being struck by Chelsea and Marseille, as the French side look to beef up their attack, with Chelsea’s new manager also looking to replace Giroud with Juventus forward Gonzalo Higuain.
Marseille are also said to be considering snapping up Mari Balotelli on a free transfer after his exit from Nice this summer, but the report by the Mirror says Marseille will not mind signing both Giroud and Balotelli this summer to form a formidable attack next season.
