If there’s one thing everyone would have to learn about transfer windows, it is the mere fact that stories that are churned out by media outlets, don’t make them true. In fact a supreme majority of the stories are inaccurate and reason we love it when players, managers and clubs come out in time to squash those rumors.
David Luiz is the latest to do so, after reports suggested he was on his way to joining FC Porto in Portugal. Those reports seemed a bit far off especially as Luiz had spent his first years in England at Benfica before moving to join Chelsea in January 2011.
It was unlikely he will leave to join their sworn rivals at the latter part of his European career. Having spent four years at Benfica and still obviously loving the club, Luiz was left displeased by the reports that he will be joining Porto.
He took to Instagram, on his story timeline to rip those reports apart via Goal saying, “The history of FC Porto is more of a newspaper lie, the same ones that ask for interviews many times !! Haha. BENFICA always in the heart !!!”
