Chelsea’s World Cup first wave make return as Sarri’s team takes shape

Chelsea had another positive friendly against Inter Milan yesterday, and it saw an important moment for the team as the first wave of returning World Cup stars made their first appearances of the season.

Toni Rudiger, Andreas Christensen and Victor Moses were among the first teamers who saw their first action under Maurizio Sarri in the entertaining friendly in Nice.

The starting lineup chosen by Sarri was almost the same as the one that faced Perth Glory, but with these guys now back in action, we could see serious changes for our next fixture, against Arsenal in Dublin, with plenty of these World Cup players coming back in.

The final group of players will return in the coming days, and we will finally see Maurizio Sarri’s first team plans emerging. Then comes the crunch for lots of Chelsea fans: what is Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s role in this team?

We’ll find out soon enough.
