Report: Chelsea bid for Juventus defender yet to kick a ball at Turin club

Chelsea are reportedly interested in buying Juventus’ recent signing Mattia Caldara, despite the young defender having yet to play a game for the Serie A giants.

Calciomercato in Italy quotes Corrierre della Sport as reporting that Chelsea’s chief negotiator Marina Granovskaia has turned attention from Daniele Rugani to Caldara after Juventus told her Rugani will not move for a fee below £44.5 million, with the Blues hoping to sign him for much less.

That has meant we’ve apparently now turned out attention to Caldara, who has been playing at Atalanta, despite Juventus sealing the deal to sign him last summer. As part of the deal, Caldara was to play for Atalanta last season, before moving to Turin to join his new teammates this summer.

Now without having to kick a ball for his new club, he could be subject to another negotiations as Chelsea see him as a great alternative to Rugani, having scored 10 goals in 55 appearances in the Serie A and they have thus apprently have made a bid of £35.6 million for him.
