Revealed: Player who helped Eden Hazard shine against Brazil speaks out

Romelu Lukaku has been criticized when Belgium fail to perform well, in fact he is considered the reason Belgium’s golden generation do not reach their standards.

But his stance and strategy may have changed as evident in the aftermath of the Belgium and Brazil quarter final clash. Lukaku was instrumental in Belgium’s win over Brazil, who were favorites for the tournament at it’s inception.

The Red Devils on the other hand made certain of their progress to the last four courtesy goals from Vincent Kompany and Kevin De Bruyne and despite the late surge by Brazil, Belgium held on.

The performance of Belgium’s front three, especially in the first half of the game was the talking point as the match wore on. Lukaku, Eden Hazard and De Bruyne were praised heavily on social media, and it is the former who chooses to take the credit. He explains his experience under Martinez at Everton gave him the edge to fully grasp what they needed to do tactically and his teammates picked it on.

“I have played in this system more often at Everton [under Martinez], and I knew exactly what to do. I helped Eden Hazard and Kevin De Bruyne and explained to them how they should stand and what to do, explaining once was enough, we did the job perfectly, we won deservedly.

My all-round game is always my strong point, I try to make other players better, I want to score as much as possible and also give as many assists as possible, and I am very busy with the team, so I can be important too.”
