Alvaro Morata is a few games into this season and his form doesn’t look to have changed too much from the tail end of last season.
The Spanish striker has been Maurizio Sarri’s undisputed first choice, but hasn’t rewarded him with a goal or even much impressive play.
But a Chelsea fan and ESPN writer on Twitter has pointed out that there’s still a spark there.
No matter how bad he’s been for more than 6 months now, we saw what he can do at the start of last season.
He makes a good point. Just look at the stats:
Thursday fun fact. Alvaro Morata created a new Chelsea record by being directly involved in 12 goals in his first 11 Premier League games (8 goals & 4 assists). Sarri is clearly prepared to give Morata every chance to rediscover this form. Trust Sarri & lay off Morata. UTC pic.twitter.com/dz2k8xoaKE

In fact he was quite brilliant in some of those games. His thumping header at Manchester United before Christmas was one of the highlights of the season, as was the glanced effort against Atletico at the Wanda.
Chances are it’s too late for him, but we’ve seen it once, and that means it can return.
