Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri made a decision to leave out Callum Hudson Odoi from his team to face Huddersfield in his maiden Premier League match, and faced the wrath of Chelsea fans on social media.
Hudson-Odoi has been one of the best players in the blue shirt during pre-season, providing a great outlet on the left of attack, in the absence of star man Eden Hazard. The youngster made a name for himself among Chelsea supporters and many expect that he will be part of the first team this season despite strong competition for places.
There was a hint of injury after Chelsea’s last training session and Hudson-Odoi, who featured against Manchester City in the FA Community Shield last weekend was out of the Blues starting 11 and also failed to make the bench, with Pedro and Willian given the nod by Sarri, while Hazard and Victor Moses filled the spaces on the bench as options for the wing roles.
That did not go down well with Chelsea fans who clearly feel, the budding youngster will no get as many chances as many would wish for him this season.
Here are a few of the shouts by Chelsea fans on Twitter after the game on Saturday.

First game of the season so I'm not going to bother too much about the team because things will change eventually but Hudson-Odoi not even making the bench after a good pre season is a weird one

Not shocked Hudson-Odoi isn’t in the team, a bit surprised that he’s not on the bench ahead of Moses. It’s the first game in a long season though, so sweeping judgements would be unwise #cfc

No Hudson Odoi even on the bench! Are you kidding me!

Hudson-Odoi committing the crime of being too young.

Don't know how someone can defend Sarri's team selection yesterday. Hudson Odoi and Ampadu were our best players in pre season and they didn't even make the bench, Fukin Victor Moses did.

Hudson-Odoi injured? Or just too young?

For Alex Goldberg, this ommision of Hudson-Odoi is the reason one of Willian and Pedro had to leave this summer transfer window, ir order not to stunt the growth of a promisiing career.
To not have Hudson-Odoi even on the bench is more on Chelsea, rather than Sarri. This is why one of Pedro or Willian had to leave. There’s almost an obligation to play them.
A little shameful.
