Chelsea have reportedly asked about the availability of Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic as they seek to sign him this summer.
The Blues search for another midfielder to join their ranks has seen them scouting several top players across Europe including Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsey, Inter Milan’s battling midfielder Matias Vecino, Lazio’s Sergej Milinković-Savić and now Kovacic.
Maurizio Sarri has already brought in Jorginho from Napoli this summer and despite having quality like N’Golo Kante, Cesc Fabregas, Ross Barkley, Danny Drinkwater and Tiemoue Bakayoko in his squad, he is still pushing the club to bring in another top player. The Daily Mail report that that man could be Kovacic at Real.
The Croatia international struggled to get games at the Santiago Bernabeu since joining, failing to break the strong partnership of Luka Modric and Toni Kroos, and wants a new adventure.
Despite interest from Manchester United, the Blues are hoping they can complete his signing and make him their third summer transfer.
