Chelsea star forward Eden Hazard has agreed to return to training with his teammates in London but has told the club to hold off on contract renewal talks.
The Belgium international was one of the stars of the 2018 World Cup, helping his nation to third place at the tournament after beating England in the third place play-off. After being voted the second best player in Russia, following his great displays throughout all the games, Real Madrid intensified their interest in him.
The La Liga side registered a formal interest in the player but Chelsea held their stance of being unwilling to sell nor discuss a possible transfer this summer. Due to this, Hazard has reported to training on Monday and continued to train on Tuesday, but according to the Evening Standard, the play maker has told the Blues chiefs he would like some time to think about the contract offer of £300,000 a week that will make him the club’s highest paid player at the club as well as increase the remaining years on his deal which expires in 2020.
He is currently not too keen to commit to a new deal at the club as he wants to wait on Real Madrid making a concrete offer for his services in this transfer window and next summer when he will have only one year remaining on his deal.
