Rumours started flying around the internet today that Thibaut Courtois had spoken to Maurizio Sarri at last upon returning to training, and had told him what we already knew: he wants to leave to join Real Madrid this summer.
It all traced back to a report on ESPN that was published just a short time ago.
But this has been denied by Kristof Terreur, a Belgian journalist who is very well connected when it comes to Courtois and his international teammate Eden Hazard.
He denied in a tweet that there has still been no personal meeting between the player and his new coach.
You can see his Tweet below:
Thibaut Courtois hasn’t had a personal meeting with Maurizio Sarri so far, despite what some sauces might be saying. That he intends to leave is quite clear. #cfc pic.twitter.com/tDMb4XQEzO

So what are ESPN playing at reporting this? Their vague reference to “sources” is pretty vague, although it’s at least more technically correct than Terreur’s “sauces”.
Sadly for Blues fans, while KT claims that there’s been no personal meeting, he doesn’t deny that the goalie does indeed intend to leave.
