Chelsea winger Willian has made a huge statement on his future after admitting he is ‘really really happy’ to play for the club and will not move anywhere this summer.
This comes after the Brazil international was constantly linked with a move away from Chelsea, in particular to Manchester United. Those rumors began before the end of the last season with several newspapers saying Jose Mourinho was keen on reuniting with his former player, but the rumors soon added Barcelona to the chase.
Sky Sports reported that the Blues had rejected three different bids from the Spanish team, and later on even Real Madrid were supposedly in the race for him.
All the talk around Willian might have sent chills down the spine of new head coach Maurizio Sarri, who would obviously seek answers from Willian who returned to preseason training late, but the 29-year old reveals he has had a conversation with his new boss and told him he is really happy at the club.
“This is just the beginning. I’ve been only in three training sessions. We have a new season with a new philosophy, everything is new for everyone. But this team has everything to improve in all aspects.
The people know we have a lot of competitions to play. If we work hard we can achieve a lot of things. I always told him [Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri] I’m really happy playing for Chelsea. I never talk about me leaving the club.”
