Chelsea head coach Maurizio Sarri is not letting Thibaut Courtois go easily, and has told the Belgian superstar to tell him to his the face, if wants to leave to Real Madrid this summer.
Courtois has just reported back to training this summer, after his participation in the World Cup that saw his Belgium side advance all the way to the semi final, to be beaten by eventual winners France. He helped Belgium win in the third place play-off and picked up the 2018 World Cup Golden Glove as well to complete a remarkable summer.
But what has not been remarkable is his attitude about his future. The goalkeeper has said a few times he does not know if he will sign a new deal with Chelsea or move on. After making a comment months ago that he would love to return to his family in Madrid, Courtois denied them, insisting the reporters misquoted his words.
Now, only a few days away from the end of the transfer window, Courtois has yet to pen a new deal at Stamford Bridge and keeps fans waiting. His manager wants the matter resolved as soon as possible and has called on the player to fly to London and say to his face that he wants to leave the club.
“I have no reaction on the agent. I’m not interested in the agent. I want to hear Courtois,” he said. “If Courtois tomorrow says the same, I have to speak with my club, of course, because I only want players with a very high level of motivation—but I have nothing to respond to the agent.”
