“He was a sick man. He was obsessed with football” – Napoli chief creator praises Maurizio Sarri for his impact at the Italian club

Chelsea head coach continues to receive praise from his former players at Napoli with Marek Hamsik praising him for his impact at the club and style of management.

Sarri is known for his attention to detail and ability to improve players and even Hamsik, considered Napoli’s best player in recent years, improved a few attributes under the current Chelsea coach.

The Italian tactician got Napoli playing some slick attacking football that raised eyebrows around the world as many search for answers on how to stop this Napoli side in several competitions. In Sarri’s last season at the club in Naples, he led them to second place, only four points behind Juventus and recorded the highest point tally of any club in the history of the Serie A to finish as runner up, 91 points.

Speaking about his former head coach, Hamsik says Sarri was a ‘sick man’ who pays attention to ‘even the slightest detail’.

“Sarri is a man who belongs on the field, he lived the game 24-7. He was a sick man. He was obsessed with football and never even let the slightest detail get by him.

What has improved me the most, has made me evolve technically and tactically, is Mr. Sarri.”
