“Possibly, but it is still far away” – Ruben Loftus-Cheek reveals intentions to leave Chelsea in the future

Chelsea youngster Ruben Loftus-Cheek is reportedly eyeing a move outside the club if opportunities become increasingly difficult to come by this season.

Under Maurizio Sarri, Chelsea now deploy three midfielders in a 4-3-3 system with Jorginho, N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic fast becoming the trio Sarri will depend on for the majority of the season. The likes of Ross Barkley, Danny Drinkwater, Cesc Fabregas and Loftus-Cheek are to fight for spots on the bench and rare minutes on the pitch.

But the latter is not prepared to wait out his time. The 22-year old wants games at Stamford Bridge and according to the Daily Mail, if those minutes do not come in thick and fast, January will offer a good time to leave the club on loan again, preferably to Crystal Palace where he shone last season under Roy Hodgson.

Loftus-Cheek says he wants his focus to remain on Chelsea for now and will later think about a move elsewhere if it gets tough finding game time.

“Possibly, but it is still far away, there are still a lot of games to play. Right now my focus is Chelsea and learning at Chelsea. That [Palace] is in the future and we will deal with that when it comes. There are a lot of games coming up so there will be more opportunities for players who are not playing every week.

We have had a lot of talks in the past couple of weeks, and he said to me I need to learn tactically. So a lot of my focus and effort is learning his tactics and his ways in training. The quicker I get that, the more opportunities I will get to play.”

Loftus-Cheek has played only two games this season for Chelsea, with a total of just 33 minutes, that has to improve if Chelsea fans will continue to see him in the blue shirt until the end of the season.
