“I am hungry for more” – Marcos Alonso reveals what he desires the most at Chelsea after signing new long-term deal

Chelsea tied Marcos Alonso to a new long-term contract at the club to keep him there until 2023, and the defender has already set sights on winning more silverware.

The Spain international is one of the hottest properties at Stamford Bridge now, after impressing under Antonio Conte and maintaining that high regard under new boss Maurizio Sarri. His consistency has proven his biggest asset and kept at bay Emerson Palmieri who was brought in last January to provide competition to the former Fiorentina left full back.

Alonso played in the left wing back role under Conte for his first two seasons, but Sarri who prefers a flat back four has reverted the 27-year old to a deeper role.

When asked what his priorities are this going forward, Alonso told the gathered press that he aims to win more titles after winning the Premier League and the FA Cup at Chelsea as well as fulfill his dream to become the best in his position across Europe.

“That’s important for me, obviously, the ambitions of the club are also high. I’ve been here two years and we won two titles. I am hungry for more. Here is where I want to win.

It was only about adaptation because the last few years I’ve been playing a different role, but I’ve played there my whole life so I know what the role requires.”
