Chelsea winger Willian has sent a heartfelt message to fans, staff, and board after completing 250 games at Chelsea in the Blues Europa League win over BATE Borisov.
Willian has been a regular fixture under Maurizio Sarri this season, starting 14 consecutive games in all competitions and proving how vital he will be to the Italian coach’s course. His appearances in all competitions have been due to one of the limited options in his position and at other times, the raw quality he brings on the table that effectively gives him the nod over his rivals.
On Thursday, he started his 11th game of the season, and that is a major step up from the early days last season under Antonio Conte when Willian barely got a look-in. His threats to leave the club were not realized last summer and he now has the smile back on his face and off the pitch.
Willian posted a couple of photos on Twitter, thanking the club’s fans for their continuous support throughout his career at Stamford Bridge since signing for Chelsea in 2015.
I'm very happy to complete 250 appearences for @chelseafc! Thank you for the fans for all the support, thank you to the staff and the board of Chelsea FC and my teammates! 🙏🏿#250appearences #CFC #W22 #Comeonblues #comeonchelsea pic.twitter.com/HtonO7xotd
