In what did not seem a dig at Alvaro Morata after the Spanish striker fails to bag goals in his short Chelsea career, Willy Caballero has revealed the forward can do well as a goalkeeper.
There will be meanings read in what the Chelsea goalkeeper has said due to the profligacy of Morata in front of goal although his short comment on who among the outfield players could turn up as good goalkeepers also included Marcos Alonso. Could the Argentina goalkeeper be signaling to his teammate that the wasted chances up-field have reduced the faith his teammates have in him?
“I think either Marcos Alonso or Alvaro Morata”
Willy Caballero, Chelsea FC
Morata has scored only one goal this season after seven Premier League matches and one Europa League appearance. The former Juventus striker is struggling to find his feet in the English game after his 11 goals in the English top flight last season. That was under Antonio Conte, but under Sarri this season, Morata was expected to bag in the goals as the Italian tactician prefers an attacking style that brings out the best in his forwards.
So far, Eden Hazard has been leading the line with his goals, while Pedro and Willian have contributed a fair share as well.
