According to a report by Sky Sports, Chelsea could lose another bright academy prospect in January after Callum Hudson-Odoi made up his mind to accept a loan bid for the last six months of the season.
The young England Under-19 international has made a name for himself at Stamford Bridge after strong showings for Chelsea’s age-limit teams and also a fine display in preseason. Maurizio Sarri watched on as Hudson-Odoi stepped in nicely for senior players like Eden Hazard who at the time were recovering from a draining World Cup tournament.
However, since the start of the season, Hudson-Odoi has featured only twice in the Europa League with both games totaling a meagre 35 minutes. His only other appearance in the Chelsea first team was in the Community Shield when his senior colleagues were still absent from club duty.
The Sky Sports report indicates Southampton and Burnley are in the market for a winger and the 18-year old could be tempted to join them despite languishing in the bottom half of the table.
