Chelsea’s top hierarchy are hoping for one major deal to go through before next summer, and that is tying Eden Hazard down to a new contract before Real Madrid submit a bid.
The Blues know their backs are against the wall with the Belgium national team captain admitting publicly that he has his eyes set on a move to the Spanish capital in the summer of 2019. That will likely happen with Real struggling this season after the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus.
Hazard knows it may be time to win new friends in Spain and is pushing a few buttons to make the move happen.
He has found himself in good form this season, scoring seven goals in the Premier League and registering five assists. That form sparks talk of his future but the former Lille attacking midfielder hints he will take stock of his future at Chelsea only when this season comes to a close.
“I only think about Chelsea now. The competition lasts seven to eight months, after which I see what happens.”
