David Luiz reveals at what point this season the Chelsea squad received the hair-dryer treatment from Maurizio Sarri

Chelsea were taught a lesson by Tottenham Hotspur last weekend with a 3-1 thrashing at the Wembley.

The Blues were outplayed in every department in the game and looked totally abject during the 90 minute period, but David Luiz reveals Maurizio Sarri has been angrier in previous games this season. It’s rather strange that the Italian has been slow to anger after the first defeat of his reign at Chelsea.

His start has been glorious and the immediate impact at the club has been felt all through England. ‘Sarriball’ as widely acclaimed in Italy for its effects on Napoli, and it traveled with him to England. But the Chelsea coach apparently has been even more angry after some of the games through the unbeaten run and Luiz maintain he and his teammates have received sterner team talk than what they got after the 3-1 defeat to Spurs last Saturday.

“He has been, many times, angrier when we’ve won. It’s true. Nobody is happy, of course, the coach is not happy.  He always tries to do his best for us, and we try to do our best for him. Of course, he’s not happy like every single player is not happy.

But I think it’s good for us to understand – to remind us – that the Premier League is never easy. It’s not easy to win any game. Like I said, we didn’t play well. We played really badly, we didn’t have the same intensity as in the other games.
