“They have to improve” – Maurizio Sarri hints two fringe stars’ career at Chelsea is over

Chelsea head coach Maurizio Sarri has given a strong hint that the future of two fringe players at the club will see an end to their current torture in the upcoming transfer windows.

When players do not fall within plans anywhere in the world, the answer for their coaches is either to find tactics to suit them or to ship them off to another club. The latter might be the solution for last summer signing Danny Drinkwater and successful right winger under Antonio Conte, Victor Moses.

The pair have not been regulars by any stretch at Chelsea this season, with Moses mostly seated on the bench or missing the entire matchday squad, just like Drinkwater.

They are likely not to feature in the game against Crystal Palace on Sunday, and ahead of matchday 11 of the Premier League season, Maurizio Sarri revealed he has yet to consider them for any position in his team so far.

I don’t know. ‘They have to improve, but the characteristics are a little bit different.

The situation is that Drinkwater for me is not suitable for a midfield with two midfielders. I told him two months ago what I think. And Moses is more suitable for playing like a wing-back than like a winger or a full-back.
