Manchester United win over Juventus hands Chelsea enviable European record

Chelsea have been handed a top European club record this season despite not kicking a ball after Manchester United recorded a comeback victory over Juventus.

The Red Devils were victorious in the UEFA Champions League encounter against the Turin side after second-half goals from Juan Mata and an own goal by Alex Sandro. Cristiano Ronaldo had put Juventus ahead with a sublime volley shortly after the halftime break but the lead for Massimiliano Allegri’s side was far from sealed.

The defeat inflicted on the Serie A giants by Jose Mourinho’s side is the very first in the entire season in all competitions. That effectively gives Chelsea the enviable record of being the only side in entire Europe to go unbeaten in all competitions this season.

The Blues have played 11 games in the Premier League this season, losing none, while playing six Europa League and Carabao Cup games without a defeat.

Maurizio Sarri’s famous ‘Sarriball’ is working magic in the early months at Stamford Bridge.
