Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata has received support from head coach Maurizio Sarri amid the worldwide abuse on social media following some shocking misses in recent games.
The Spain international had been heavily involved in games this season but failed to score until a good patch in four games where he grabbed four goals. However, following his brace against Crystal Palace, Morata has failed to score in three games for club and country.
He was heavily involved in Chelsea’s stalemate with Everton a fortnight ago, but his failure to score gave way to a drop in confidence, only to be seen in the games to follow. Luis Enrique watched with dismay when Morata spurned a glorious chance to score from six yards against Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The social media world came out in full force for Morata’s head after that missed chance but his club coach, Sarri, has thrown his support for the former Real Madrid forward insisting he will come good in due time.
“Morata is a quality player, fast and technically gifted. He’s a sensible person and the difficulties had hurt him.
The results and the quality of our football are positive. 18 games without a loss in such a competitive reality show that we’re on the right track.”
