Chelsea star Eden Hazard rejected the temptation of pushing for a move to Real Madrid last summer despite strong rumors that the La Liga giants are interested in signing the player.
The forward was linked with the move to Los Blancos after the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo from the club to Juventus to end a decade-long stay at the Santiago Bernabeu. However, he decided against pushing through the move and stayed with Chelsea under new manager Maurizio Sarri.
That decision has proven a masterstroke with the Belgium national team captain recording one of his best numerical starts to a season. Hazard has seven goals and four assists in Chelsea’s first 11 games in the Premier League. His start has drawn lots of attention to him in recent weeks with several pundits admitting he may be the best player in the world at the moment.
His younger brother Thorgan, also performing well in the Bundesliga is adamant Eden’s focus remains on Chelsea and would only leave the Blues on the right note.
“Eden made the right decision to stay at Chelsea. Chelsea weren’t keen on selling him, and he had a strong start of the season. Real Madrid are in a complex period. They sacked their manager, key players left. They have to rebuild.
I think Eden will see what happens at the end of the season. I know him. He’s not thinking about a move right now. He will give everything for Chelsea. He doesn’t want a clash with his club either. If he ever leaves, he will play it correctly.”
