Mateo Kovacic’s wish to stay at Chelsea partly hangs with Eden Hazard’s possible move to Real Madrid with reports in Spain saying Los Blancos are interested in adding the midfielder to Isco to land Hazard next summer.
The deal actually could be done if the wishes of both players are granted. Hazard has spent the last few months of the season appealing to Chelsea to let him leave after this season while Isco is also fuming at not starting games in the La Liga since Santiago Solari took over, having started only once for Real.
In London, Kovacic is actually happy to have moved to the Premier League and has admitted, staying permanently in London is an option for him. The Croatia international has featured in 22 games in all competitions under Maurizio Sarri this season and continues to star in an already packed midfield.
“He is incredible. I didn’t know he was so good until I came here, he could easily be one of the three best players in the world. Yes, he has asked me about Madrid and my time there, but at the moment we are concentrating on having a great season with Chelsea. He is very focused.”

Playing on the left of Sarri’s three-man midfield, Kovacic has jumped ahead of Ross Barkley, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Danny Drinkwater in the Blues team as he starts alongside Jorginho and N’Golo Kante.
