“I accept his decision” – Genaro Gattuso admits Chelsea are on the verge of signing Gonzalo Higuain

Chelsea may be on the verge of signing Gonzalo Higuain if everything goes according to plan, especially after AC Milan manager Gennaro Gattuso admitted the player has made a decision to join the Blues.

Maurizio Sarri’s side desperately need a striker to restore confidence to their attack after Olivier Giroud and Alvaro Morata have continued to fail at that. In fact, Sarri has lost confidence in his strikers and continues to play Eden Hazard in the false nine position, a trick that failed miserably against Arsenal last weekend.

The rumors have been strong about bringing in a new frontman and they have intensified in the last few days. Higuain is the man Sarri wants and he may be close to completing the deal after Gattusso told Sky Sports that he has accepted the decision by his forward to leave his side for Chelsea in the January transfer window.

“I accept his decision. Surely he could have done more and maybe we could have helped him fit in better. I want to be honest with you all. We had a poor training session today due to all these rumors. We spoke after the training session and I did not consider him ready for this game.”

Higuain was initially on a season-long loan deal with Milan from Juventus but has cut the deal short to join his former coach, Sarri in London.
