Why Chelsea paying £50 million for PSG’s top marksman makes sense

Chelsea strikers Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud’s form and fitness have left the Blues without a recognized striker a few times this season, and over time the need to get a new man up front has been made a priority by the club.

That is perhaps why the Blues are being linked with almost every top striker in the market. Rumours have grown around players with some level of Serie A familiarity, either currently in the Italian league or having played  there before.

The report by the Express points to a South American star, previously the most feared striker in Italy during his time at Napoli.

The paper says Edison Cavani is now an option for Chelsea, after they failed to convince Gonzalo Higuain to join, and that the Blues want to sign him for £50 million this month. The offer is yet to be made if the report is true and at this stage, it only remains a rumor.

Maurizio Sarri’s side have scored only 38 goals this season, but Cavani who has 324 goals in 519 appearances at Paris Saint Germain,  could give that number a big boost should he arrive this month.
