Chelsea’s January Blues could end up costing millions

We’ve now raced past the halfway mark in January, and after a fast start everything has gone quiet.

We started with a bang and the signing of Christian Pulisic to arrive in the summer, but since then it’s been plain paralysis.

We’ve sold Cesc Fabregas and seem pretty far down the way to selling Alvaro Morata, so we’re making space for signings – but where are they?

Our double chase for Nicolo Barella and Leandro Paredes has ground to a halt, and we really hope that’s not just because we’re arguing over a few million pounds.

Every game we go into with such a weak squad we risk missing out on points, and we need those points desperately to chase the Champions League. That would be much more costly than a few million quid on a transfer fee or a few thousand pounds a week on a contract.

Getting these new players in and training is vital, and delaying could end up being a huge false economy.
