Eden Hazard’s immediate prove to Maurizio Sarri that he leads in a different way

It’s perhaps strange that Maurizio Sarri thinks of Eden Hazard as an ‘individual player’ following his criticism of the Belgium international after the loss to Arsenal last weekend.

The criticism was shocking as it was unnecessary. Sarri aimed the dig at the very man who has kept his side going in tough times. Hazard has been in fine form this season and as the club’s highest goalscorer this campaign, he has offered a decent contribution to the Italian manager’s debut season.

Aside from the goals, Hazard has led by example in this Chelsea team and Sarri’s assessment of his leadership qualities in the media was uncalled for.

Against Tottenham, the 28-year old scored a goal to cap off a great performance at the Bridge. More importantly for him, he proved why he deserved to be named the captain for the Belgium national team. He showed he leads by example on the pitch and a loud voice does not necessarily trump his gallant acts.
