Chelsea head coach Maurizio Sarri has made a request to the club’s board for another signing to be completed this month following the arrival of Gonzalo Higuain.
According to the Italian coach, he made it clear to the club ahead of the winter transfer window that he needs to boost two areas in his squad to remain competitive for the remainder of the season. Higuain arrived to replace Alvaro Morata this month with the Spain international switching countries to join Atletico Madrid.

Higuain’s arrival at the Bridge signaled the Blues were ready to back their head coach in the current transfer market and his request for a midfielder to replace Cesc Fabregas means Blues fans may yet see another player arrive this month.
The London based side were linked with a move for Leandro Paredes, who joined Paris Saint Germain on Tuesday, but are still in search of another to provide cover for Jorginho in the deep-lying midfield role; as confirmed by Sarri in the press conference quoted by Liam Twomey from Goal.com in the Tweet below:
Sarri on Fabregas replacement: "You know very well my opinion. I thought for us it was important to have two players. One has arrived & I'm waiting for the other. If he will arrive I'll be very happy, but if he doesn't I will work with these players. It's not a problem" #cfc
