Manager breaks silence on potential transfer raid on Chelsea

Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has responded to transfer rumours linking his club with Chelsea misfit Alvaro Morata.

The Spain international has had his troubles at Stamford Bridge, but it seems he would not be short of suitors if he were allowed a move away from the club this January.

ESPN have linked Morata with Sevilla, but it seems Atletico have also joined the running for his signature, according to a report from Goal.

Speaking about a possible move for Morata, however, Simeone kept his cards close to his chest, neither confirming an interest nor ruling out a swoop for the struggling Blues ace.

“I don’t speak about players that aren’t with us, only those that are,” the Argentine told reporters, as quoted by Goal.

“I can’t confirm or deny anything because coaches wait to see what the club can do.”

Chelsea fans will just hope something can be done soon as it’s been clear for some time now that Morata is far from good enough for a club of our ambitions.

Having had commanding figures up front in Didier Drogba and Diego Costa in recent successful periods, it’s clear Morata is a far cry from those players and needs replacing as soon as possible.
