Chelsea make decision on Kepa after on-pitch feud with Maurizio Sarri

Chelsea have reportedly made the decision not to punish Kepa Arrizabalaga following his disgraceful action on the Wembley pitch last Sunday.

The Spain international refused to come off when Maurizio Sarri sought to replace him with Willy Caballero in the dying minutes of the Carabao Cup final against Manchester City. He had called the attention of the medical team after going down in his area.

Sergio Aguero hit a piledriver from just outside the box, and Kepa swept to his left to make a fine save, but got up with a complaint about his hamstring. The same hamstring injury that ruled the 24-year old out of the Europa League action with Malmo on Thursday, and that almost ruled him out out of the Sunday game.

The injury scare against quickly prompted Sarri’s decision to bring Caballero on, but the more shocking drama ensued. Kepa would not come out and for several minutes, the game was brought to a standstill, as Sarri kept pushing to have the Argentina shot-stopper on.

But despite the farcical behavior, Metro Sport say Chelsea’s board will not punish Kepa in any way for what happened.
