Eden Hazard beats Kevin De Bruyne and other stars for Belgium’s top footballer award

Chelsea’s Eden Hazard is again the cream of the crop in his homeland Belgium after he was voted the 2018 Player Of The Year.

The Belgium official Twitter account announced him as the winner after taking 14,974 of the total votes cast.

The Belgium national team captain was a true leader on and off the pitch as the Red Devils advanced to the latter stages of the 2018 World Cup in Russia. His leadership examples were visible on the pitch with his stellar displays in the qualifiers and other matches under Roberto Martinez.

He beat Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne and Axel Witsel of Borussia Dortmund to the top award in their country. It is a top recognition for his exceptional performances in the last 12 months considering the high-level of competitions played.

Witsel placed second behind Hazard with 3,081 votes while De Bruyne’s 2005 votes got him the third position following the announcement on Friday.
