“He fell in love with him” – Bayern Munich CEO reveals the club’s sporting director was saddened

Chelsea will have a tall order in their attempts to keep Callum Hudson Odoi from Bayern Munich’s clutches next summer after the revelation that the Bavarian’s sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic had fallen in love with the youngster.

The 18-year old was the subject of transfer discussions between Chelsea and Bayern in the January transfer window but the Bundesliga giants’ four bids were not considered by the Blues who stood by their stance not to sell. Although he has featured sparingly at the Stamford Bridge club, Hudson-Odoi is tipped to have the kind of ability to become a star in future.

That enormous talent is not on showcase every matchday at Stamford Bridge but each time he has been called on by Maurizio Sarri, Hudson-Odoi has shown why he must be trusted by Sarri and his technical team.

Per the Guardian, Chelsea rebuffed four bids from Bayern with the last said to be £35 million. Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge reveals why his side were so aggressive in their chase of the U-20 England star.

“The only one that Hasan would like accomplished would have been that player at Chelsea because he fell in love with him and his qualities. I would not deny now that the offensive pursuit [of Hudson-Odoi] in London did not come off well.

Do not forget that Hasan Salihamidzic also had to signal to the player somewhere, although he did not have direct contact with him personally, because that’s not allowed, but the player had to get a signal if Bayern Munich is standing behind him.”
