N'Golo Kante against Atletico Madrid.

“This one is not his best characteristic” – Maurizio Sarri reveals why N’Golo Kante will never play in defensive midfielder

The small issue of N’Golo Kante playing in advanced midfield will never go away, especially as results keep going south this season under Maurizio Sarri.

Their usual upbeat mood has been damaged in recent weeks and with calls for Sarri to make drastic changes to his system and tactics, including moving Kante back to his more natural defensive midfield role, the former Napoli boss says that will not happen as Jorginho does a better job at moving the ball forward.

“In that position, I want a player able to move the ball very fast. This is not the best characteristic of N’Golo. N’Golo is very useful for us, but this one is not his best characteristic.”
