Chelsea’s forgotten midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko has made a decision on his future saying it will be a ‘dream’ should AC Milan choose to make his deal permanent next summer.
The France international had completed a season-long loan move to Milan last summer but failed to convince the hierarchy at the Serie A club early on. It took a while to step up his displays but when he did, the Rossoneri were impressed and are now determined to keep him from returning to the Premier League.
The 23-year old’s recent performances have been great for Genaro Gattusso’s side. He now commands the central midfield area with the great passes and interceptions that made him popular in the French Ligue 1 at AS Monaco.
Now according to FourFourTwo, the Italian want to explore the opportunity to trigger the option to buy Bakayoko for £30 million next summer. The midfielder says he will relish the opportunity to wear the AC Milan shirt for a longer time.
“I heard what Leonardo said,†Bakayoko told Corriere dello Sport. “But I’m not in a position to be talk about it. It’s a matter for Milan and Chelsea. Staying at Milan is my dream, the only thought in my mind, but I have a contract with Chelsea. I just want to finish the season in fourth place, then we’ll think about it.
After the words of Gattuso I didn’t feel good and wasn’t happy. I felt like I was under scrutiny in my position on the pitch. But I never spoke about it with the coach: I thought about working.”

In truth, he may struggle to get regular minutes under Maurizio Sarri if the manager remains in charge beyond this season. The Italian coach prefers to play a three-man midfield and Bakayoko’s profile does not fit in the stiff criteria of the 60-year old.
