Chelsea’s most impressive Premier League record safe for another season

Manchester City smashed almost every one of Chelsea’s Premier League records last term, but there’s one that stands proud, and it will remain to do so!

City set a new record for number of wins, most goals scored and total points, all of which were previously held by Chelsea. There was one that they didn’t even get close to, however, and that’s for the number of goals conceded in a single Premier League campaign.

That was set by Chelsea in Jose Mourinho’s debut season at the club back in 2004/05, with the Blues conceding just 15 goals in 38 games. It’s utterly astonishing that a team managed that and it’s difficult to envisage it ever being beaten.

Especially after Liverpool, whose defence has been near impenetrable with Virgil Van Dijk commanding their back four, conceded their 16th and 17th goals of the season against Burnley on Sunday afternoon.

It’s almost inconceivable that a team could be so tight at the back to concede so little. Mourinho’s legacy at Chelsea may have become a little tarnished, but he’s inarguably our greatest ever manager.
