Ruben Loftus-Cheek is remaining optimistic that Chelsea will be able to secure a top four finish in the Premier League this season.
It’s been as much of a rollercoaster ride for RLC this term as it has for Chelsea. The Englishman has produced several scintillating performances, but his season has been plagued by injury.
Having spread his wings and shown what he can do at Crystal Palace last time around, the 2018/19 campaign promised to be a breakout year for Loftus-Cheek at the Bridge. That hasn’t been the case.
A recurring back problem has stunted his progression into a starter under Maurizio Sarri, but he could still have a considerable role to play in the business end of the season as his physical condition improves.

Chelsea are fighting to secure Champions League qualification, whether that be through finishing in the top four or by winning the Europa League. Ruben is confident that one of those avenues could prove fruitful.
Loftus-Cheek is quoted by the Mirror saying:
“It’s still all to play for. It’s been up and down for us but we will keep going, keep working hard in training.”
“The points gap is not too big, so we will keep going to try to get those wins. We must keep believing.”
Chelsea are crying out for a driving force in the midfield which Loftus-Cheek can provide. Sarri has to give him sufficient opportunities over the next two months – he’ll reap the rewards if he does.
