Maurizio Sarri has confirmed that starts are on the horizon for Callum Hudson-Odoi, but he still doesn’t appear willing to give the youngster the significant role that he deserves.
Hudson-Odoi is ready to be starting for Chelsea. If you weren’t convinced prior to his call-up to the England national team, you damn well should be now.
Continuing to overlook him would be an inexplicable (and quite frankly ignorant) move from Sarri, yet it doesn’t look as though the situation’s going to change any time soon.
Speaking in his pre-Cardiff press conference, Sarri is quoted by Goal reporter Nizaar Kinsella outlining the role that Hudson-Odoi can expect to be given over the next month or so:
“We have to play 8 matches in 23 days, I am sure Callum will start two or three matches.”
This is STILL not acceptable.

Two of those games that Sarri is talking about will likely be in the Europa League. He’d be lucky to get the third, having never started a Premier League game.
Sarri’s insistence on keeping the shackles on a player who is ready to spread his wings is staggering. There’d be few tears shed if it led to him losing his job.
